Adavantages
Natural appearance, resistant to extreme heat and repairable.
Disadvantages:
Relatively more expensive, porous, requires regular sealing to prevent staining, extremely heavy.
Natural Granite Stone:
Granite is an igneous rock composed mainly of feldspar, quartz and mica. It is quarried in large blocks, then cut into slabs for countertops. These slabs are generally 100% natural.
No resins or pigments
Unlike quartz countertops, granite countertops contain no resins or pigments. These are all-natural products.
Variety of minerals:
Granite comes in a wide range of colors and patterns due to the different minerals present in each slab. The specific mineral composition gives each granite countertop its unique appearance.
Polishing and sealing:
After the slabs have been cut, they are polished to create a smooth, shiny surface. Because granite is porous, it is usually sealed to protect it from stains and preserve its appearance.
